How do I ... ?

Lake Shore Drive is a family of believers in Jesus Christ.  You can become a member of Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church in one of four ways:

    *  Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior and being baptized by immersion

    *  If you have already accepted Jesus, but have not been baptized by immersion, then by following Him in believer's baptism

    *  Transfer of membership by letter from another Baptist Church of like faith and order

    *  Statement of having previously accepted Christ and experienced baptism by immersion as a member of another Baptist
Church of like faith and order

What must I do ... ?

You must personally receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

    1.  Realize your sin as separated you from God...

    2.  Be willing to turn from your sin to God (this is called repentance).

    3.  Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and He arose in victory over death.

    4.  Invite Jesus Christ to take control of your life.  Trusting Christ is more than

mentally recognizing Him as the Son of God or having and emotional

experience.  You must receive Him as your Lord and Saviour by faith.

What is  ... ?

Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church is a Baptist Church because historically Baptist have been identified by a few simple, but defining Biblical distinctives.  We feel it is important to uphold biblical traits that would help clarify what kind of church we are.  The word Baptist means that we believe in...

Biblical authority in all matter of faith and practice.

You will not find visions, revelations, tongues or extra-Biblical "messages from God" at Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church.

Autonomy (self-governing) of the local church

Our church is completely self-governed outside of a denomination or Christian fellowship.

Priesthood of the believer

Every believer has equal and instant access to God through Christ.  This means that each believer has direct access to God's truth and will for his life.  The only mediator between God and man is Christ Jesus; not the pastor, priest, pope or otherwise.

Two offices within the church

Scripture refers to only two offices of leadership in the church.  Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church ascribes exclusively to the offices of Bishop (elder, pastor), and Deacon (literally, a servant).  It is thee responsibility of the pastor to serve the church by leading, teaching and overseeing the church work.  It is the responsibility of the deacons to serve the church family through assisting with care and the provision of special needs.

Saved, baptized church membership

Membership of Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church is exclusively for those who have put their trust in Christ alone for salvation, been baptized in water by immersion in a Baptist Church of like faith, and ascribe the the church's statements of faith, purpose, and position.

Two ordinances

We practice two ordinances at Lake Shore Drive Baptist church.  Baptism and the Lord's Supper.  These ordinances are memorial in significance and have no part in a person's salvation.

Separation of church and State

The state shall have no power to intervene in the free expression of religious liberty.
