Our History
Where we came from
In June of 1967, Brother Robert Flowers, from Mobile, Alabama, was led of the Lord to come to Nampa, Idaho and hold evangelistic meetings. As a result of those meetings, five people were saved and several people rededicated their lives to the Lord. At the close of the meetings, some local pastors affiliated with the Bible Baptist Fellowship felt it was God's will to begin a work in Nampa. Bible Baptist Church began as a mission work out of the State Street Baptist Church in Boise.

Later in 1967, the church moved from the Women's Century Club into a facility in Nampa leased from the Bethel Nazarene Church. In 1969, Bible Baptist Church was organized, adopted a church Covenant, Articles of Faith, and By-Laws and was legally incorporated. In March of the same year the Bethel Nazarene property was purchased. A school was later started, improvements made to the building, and the mortgage was soon retired.
Fast forward to 1999 under pastor Jerry Akers, the church had continued to flourish and plans were underway to build a new facility. Property was purchased off Lake Shore Drive and the final payment made in 2001. The church began raising money for the building and in April of 2003 listed the 2nd Street church property for sale. In July of the same year the property sold.
With the speedy sale of the old church property, it became evident that the church needed to move beyond the planning stages to the actual building of the new facilities.
In September of 2004 Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church held a ground breaking ceremony. Later in March of the same year, the first Sunday service was held at the new site.
Pastor Akers said "Here we are. We stand in amazement and say: "What hath God wrought!" This is all totally of God, and we give Him the Glory for the great things HE hath done. We eagerly anticipate the future of Lake Shore Baptist Church, and fully expect God to use His church mightily in the days ahead."
In 2006 Pastor Akers resigned to pursue a Doctorate degree. Assistant Pastor James Bliss, who had been serving since 2003, was asked by the church to become interim Pastor and was the first candidate presented before the church. Pastor James Bliss has faithfully served as Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church's Pastor since that time. God is so Good!

Our Purpose and Beliefs
Having been led, as we believe, by the Sprit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior; and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aide of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior, to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant, and the principles of God's Word.
1. We believe the whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 as the verbally inspired and infallible Word of God.
2. We believe Jesus Christ was born of Mary the Virgin, and is the Son of God, and God the Son.
3. We believe that Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture; the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God.
4. We believe that He arose from the grave the third day according to the Scriptures.
5. We believe that He, only, is the Great High Priest, and we need not the intercession of any man, but that Christ ever lives to make intercession for us.
6. We believe that Christ will come again in Person, bodily and visibly, to establish His Kingdom on the earth.
7. We believe that in order to be saved, the soul must be born again--"Ye must be born again." John 3:3
8. We believe that every truly born again soul should declare his faith by the act of baptism (immersion in water) setting forth the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection.
9. We believe that Christ keeps those who are truly born again. (2 Timothy 1:12 & John 10:28 )
10. We believe that all Christians are called unto a life of separation from worldly and sinful practices, and to a life of usefulness for Christ. (2 Corinthians 6:17 , 2 Peter 1:2-9)
11. We believe that the church is a body of baptized believers whose only mission is not to "reform" the world but to preach and teach the Gospel of Salvation to the individual soul.
12. We believe that at Christ’s coming in the air, the bodies of the dead in Christ shall be raised incorruptible and reunited with soul and spirit; the bodies of Christians who are alive shall be changed and glorified, and without dying, shall be caught up to be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; 2 Corinthians 15:51-53). The saved will then appear before the Judgment Seat Christ to be rewarded for their deeds (2 Corinthians 5:10 , 1 Corinthians 3:11 -15). After these things Christ will return bodily and visibly to the earth, with His saints, and shall rule the world in righteousness for a thousand years at the end of which the unsaved dead will be resurrected, and the judgment and condemnation shall take place. (Matthew 24:30,31; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:5,6,11,15)
A true Baptist is one who believes in a supernatural Bible, which tells of a supernatural Christ, Who had a supernatural birth, Who spoke supernatural words, Who performed supernatural miracles, Who lived a supernatural life, Who died a supernatural death, Who rose in supernatural power, Who ascended in supernatural splendor, Who intercedes as a supernatural Priest, and Who will one day return in supernatural glory to establish a supernatural kingdom on earth.
